Chaos Rising is the fourth main set of the Mega Evolution era in the English Pokémon TCG. It came out on Friday 22 May 2026, with prereleases from 9 to 17 May, and its headliner is Mega Greninja ex. It brings the set list of the Japanese Ninja Spinner (M4) to English and Spanish, with four key changes we cover below.
The set has 122 cards (86 in the main set plus 36 Secret Rares), two fewer than Perfect Order (124). Five Mega Evolution ex lead the set: Pyroar, Greninja, Floette, Gallade and Dragalge.

Frequently asked questions
When did Chaos Rising come out?
Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising reached stores worldwide on Friday 22 May 2026. Prereleases ran from 9 to 17 May at authorized stores, with the Build & Battle Box.
How many cards are in Chaos Rising?
122 cards: 86 in the main set (numbers 1 to 86) plus 36 Secret Rares (numbers 87 to 122). That's two fewer than Perfect Order (124 cards).
Which Chaos Rising products are confirmed?
Booster Display with 36 packs (10 cards per pack), Elite Trainer Box with 9 packs and an exclusive Fennekin Illustration Rare promo, Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box with 11 packs and an alternate promo, Build & Battle Box with 4 packs, a 40-card deck and 1 of 4 foil promos, 6-pack Booster Bundle, 3-Pack Blister, Checklane Blister and Premium Checklane Blister.
What are the four Build & Battle Box promos?
Delphox, Ampharos, Crobat and Goodra. Each Build & Battle Box includes one of the four at random as a foil promo, available only in this product during the 9 to 17 May 2026 prereleases.
What is the exclusive Elite Trainer Box promo?
The standard Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box comes with an exclusive Fennekin Illustration Rare promo. The card isn't in booster packs: it was taken out of the set and kept for the ETB as its collector piece.
Which store promos are there?
There are three gift-with-purchase promos split across retailers, given when you pass a minimum spend on Pokémon TCG products: Ho-Oh at GameStop (US) and EB Games (Canada and Australia); Keldeo at Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble and BoxLunch (US); Delphox at Best Buy (US), Mr Toys and Toymate (Australia) and JB Hi-Fi (New Zealand).
How many Mega Evolution ex cards are in Chaos Rising?
Five Mega Evolution ex in the main set: Mega Pyroar ex (#015), Mega Greninja ex (#022, the set mascot), Mega Floette ex (#035), Mega Gallade ex (#048) and Mega Dragalge ex (#065). Mega Gallade ex is in the set only in the Western release: in Japan it came out separately in January as the Mega Gallade ex Special Set.
Is it the same as the Japanese Ninja Spinner?
Almost. Chaos Rising is the English version of the Ninja Spinner (M4) set list with four key differences: (1) it adds Mega Gallade ex from the Japanese Mega Gallade ex Special Set released in January, (2) it adds Krookodile ex and Adversity Policy from the November 2025 Gym promos, (3) it pulls the Fennekin Illustration Rare to make it the ETB promo, and (4) it moves Ho-Oh, Keldeo, Crobat and Goodra up to Holo Rare.
What are the odds of pulling the gold Mega Greninja ex?
In the Japanese equivalent (Ninja Spinner), the gold Mega Ultra Rare turns up roughly once every several booster boxes, and English Hyper Rares tend to land in a similar range. If you want the gold card, buying the single is almost always cheaper than chasing it in packs.
Is there a Spanish version?
Yes. The Spanish edition (Caos Creciente) came out the same day as the English one, 22 May. The contents are identical: only the card text language changes. Spain and Latin America get the Booster Display, standard ETB, Build & Battle Box, Booster Bundle and the blisters; the Pokémon Center ETB is a US exclusive.
