TCG Binders
📒 A binder is what turns a pile of cards in a drawer into a collection. At Metamorph Center we stock binders from Ultra PRO and Vault X, plus zip binders for toploaders from Friki Monkey.
How many pockets do you need?
The pocket count decides how much fits and how the collection looks when you open it:
- 4-pocket (160 cards): for trade binders or for carrying your best cards around. Fits in any backpack.
- 9-pocket (360 cards): the standard, and the size with the most colors and editions to choose from.
- 12-pocket (480 to 624 cards): for big sets. Fewer pages to flip when you're looking for one card.
- 16-pocket (1,088 cards): the XXL size, for archiving full sets or your play cards.
Zipper or no zipper?
A zipper closes the binder on three sides, so no card slides out even if you carry it on its side in a backpack or turn it upside down. That's what you want in a binder that goes to tournaments and meetups.
Binders without a zipper are lighter and cheaper, and work fine if the binder mostly stays on the shelf.
Ultra PRO and Vault X
- Ultra PRO is the classic name in card supplies, with officially licensed Pokémon editions: Charizard, Mega Charizard, Pikachu, Lucario and Charmander.
- Vault X earned its place with the EXO-TEC range of padded hard-cover zip binders, in black, purple, pink, red, blue and yellow.
Their pockets are side-loading, which solves the classic binder problem: cards sliding down and working their way out of the top.
Do they work for any game?
Yes. Pokémon, One Piece, Magic, Dragon Ball and Riftbound cards share the same standard size (63 x 88 mm), so any binder here works for all of them. Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are smaller (59 x 86 mm) and fit too, with a little room to spare. If you store cards that are already sleeved, remember that sleeves add thickness: sleeved cards sit better in a hard-cover binder.
